Individual Therapy
The cornerstone of our program is individual psychotherapy.
All clients at Full Heart Recovery work with their psychotherapist to identify the issues they would like to address, establish goals and work toward the change they desire. Our psychotherapists are trained in various modalities such as psychodynamic interpersonal therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and various trauma therapies. We utilize CBT to address present symptoms, identify addiction triggers, and learn new, positive thought patterns and behaviors.
Psychodynamic therapy emphasizes how an individual’s past, thoughts, and circumstances shape present behaviors. For instance, individuals who have experienced abuse may exhibit behaviors that inhibit the development of healthy relationships. Such unresolved conflicts may lead to destructive behaviors.
At Full Heart Recovery we believe that only when a person has stopped acting out with sex or substances can they begin to do the deeper therapeutic work of understanding the psychological underpinnings of their addiction and begin to understand themselves in a nonjudgmental and more authentic manner.
